I plan on having The Rewind be a weekly feature since we will be having visitors (which means news) come around a lot more. Lets get it going...
(Week one commit tracker)
PRE-GAME BLITZ: One of our newest features got a twist this weekend! Recruiting and pre-game team info gets lost on game days do to all the new threads (which is great). BMatt thought it would be cool if we put up a story with quick hits of whats going down on the field before the game. An interesting commit who was in town? Alabama commit Brandon Kennedy who said he will most likely be back for the LSU game, too.
WAR ROOM: JLee penned his first War Room since 2012 on Friday and it was LOADED with info. I couldn't even begin to summarize it for this Rewind if I tried. Just read it -- I promise you won't be disappointed.
FOCUSED ON OTHER THINGS: One of Auburn's top defensive line targets four-star DE D'Andre Walker is taking a break from the recruiting process and focusing on his senior season.
BIG FACTOR: JoeJuan Williams is one of the best cornerbacks in the 2016 class and made another visit to the Plains for the game Saturday. The Rivals100 has the Tigers trending as an early favorite -- Melvin Smith and Rhett Lashlee are his main recruiters.
NEW LEADER FOR DT: David Marshall is one of four top defensive tackle targets in the 2016 class -- and Auburn surpassed Alabama for his top spot after this weekend. I expect the next class to be stacked with elite defensive line playmakers.
HEAVILY COVETED: John Broussard is no stranger to Auburn games, but the rising junior is now an elite prospect and the more he is on campus the better the Tigers' chances are. He has a top six which includes Auburn, LSU, Kentucky, UGA, FSU and South Carolina.
QUEEN VIDEO HIGHLIGHTS: JLee check out Tyler Queen during his season opener and got some game-time footage. He was much improved stat wise last game.
BASKETBALL RECRUITING NEWS:
[/B]
JUCO SG COMMITS: Bruce Pearl and his staff continue their incredible run of commits by adding one of the nation's top scorers - T.J. Dunans, who committed following a weekend visit.
2017 PF HAS INTEREST: Auburn legacy Austin Wiley is just a sophomore, but is already gaining a well-known name around the country. His father, Aubrey Wiley, led the SEC in rebounds in 1994.
7-FOOT ADDITION: Another day, another basketball commit. Pearl added former Rivals100 big man and Maryland commit Trayvon Reed last week. Big news with him? He MAY be eligible to play for Auburn this season.
NU COMMIT: Auburn added four-star guard Nu Williams to their commit class -- and he said he can't wait to make a dynasty. When was the last time you heard that about Auburn basketball?
FOOTBALL RECRUITING SCOOP:
Why didn't Martez Ivey and Nate Craig make their visit Saturday? Both five-star prospects suffered injuries in their high school games the night before which inhibited them from making the trip. Ivey (knee) plans to re-schedule his official visit for later in the year with possible dates such as LSU and TAMU weekend being thrown around. Craig received word this morning that he will need surgery this weekend to help repair a broken fibula.
Lamar Jackson committed to UofL -- what now? [/I]As it stands right now, the only quarterback I see Auburn taking for the 2015 class is Tyler Queen.
Does Auburn have a legitimate shot at D'Andre Walker? [/I]The four-star DE is a private guy which means he won't be letting out any big secrets about his recruiting process. He plans on announcing on NSD which is five months from now -- and a lot can happen between now and then. Right now, I see Auburn as a dark horse despite having his teammate Montavious Atkinson committed. However, a big season for the Tigers can open up a lot of doors.
Is five-star DT Daron Payne all Alabama? [/I]The Rivals100 prospect visited Auburn on Saturday which is good news. Payne is a quiet guy, as are most of the elite recruits now-a-days. It is hard to get a good read on him, but I think the order for the defensive tackle is Alabama with Auburn and Mississippi State behind. Could that gap close? Absolutely, everybody knows what Garner can do. I've said from day one that I think he will sign with Alabama, but the more he visits Auburn and spends time with the staff and team the Tigers stock rises.
How did Jovon Robinson's visit go? The five-star RB commit took his official to Auburn this past weekend and everything went incredibly well, according to a number of sources. The JUCO talent remains fully committed and gave no hint of changing that -- which is as good as it can get.
