This absolutely clutch video (whoever captured it in such high quality) which I know you've seen, but need to see AGAIN and AGAIN, is for me 2nd ONLY to the better actual Kick Six plays themselves. They were cute and part of the viral marketing, but I don't give much of a rip for the mostly fake home TV "reenactments" (come on, man, people don't have their iPhone selfie cameras rolling all game, like "SHEENA! SHEENA!" falling onto the floor. DVR's were rewound and reenacted to create Internet heroes jumping in pools and piling onto the floor).
But the Auburn Marching Band? Check the female drum major - she's poised, keeping the band members' attention, waiting to confirm the TD score, even as she sees the most dramatic walk-off finish in the HISTORY OF SPORTS unfold on the Jaybotron before her very eyes. And lordy, the male drum major to the left on screen who due to the mob of students pouring over the rails and shrubs - he has to use elite level balance and core strength to tightwire the damn rail even as people are pushing and shoving past him.
And don't even get me started on the poise and discipline of the front row PICCOLO players, executing the Auburn Fight Song flawlessly despite a surge of adrenalin coarsing through their bodies. Tuba players in the back were also clutch holding back any surging student body.
That, my friends, is elite level training and discipline, which prepared these musicians for the massive moment. Drinks are on me, AU Marching Band on Eleven Thirty, Two Thousand and Thirteen. As for the presumed faculty marching band director (blonde headed dude, in suit), he LOST ALL COMPOSURE, shirt wildly untucked, hugging, struck by thunder to the ground, and PROPERLY CHECKED HIS MIND INTO AN ALTERNATE REALITY. USELESS in the moment LOL.
