Very solid bounce back today after playing poorly on the road this week at Mizzou. OU is not an elite team, but they are going to be in the NCAAT barring a stretch run collapse. They only lost to KU last week by 3 and beat Ark into a pulp earlier this season. We didn't play great the entire way, but we answered all of OU's runs and never let them get back with 1 possession in the 2nd half. After a shaky effort on the road Tuesday, we looked like the #1 team in the country today because we played what was likely a B overall for the game, yet doubled the spread against a solid team major conferenced team.
I had a feeling Jabari would have a big game today after struggling at Mizzou and he did not disappoint. Tons of NBA scouts in the arena today and they got to see first-hand why Jabari should be the #1 pick. Second highest scoring game of the year for him and a career high 12 boards. He took over the game with a 7-0 run in the first half to build the lead we would never surrender.
Walker was dominant once again with a career high 21 points today. Finally found the range from deep knocking down 2 3 pointers. As awesome as he has been, he can take his game to another level if he starts knocking down 3s. Forcing teams to guard him out to the 3 point line will do wonders for the rest of our offense.
Devan with his second straight game with a huge impact. When OU cut our lead to 4-5 points in the 2nd, Devan took over the glass for a stretch and scored on back to back possessions off rebounds to single handily shut down their run. Game was well in hand from that point forward. What an incredible luxury to have a spark like Devan off the bench who can come in playing with 100% intensity when other team's starters are flagging in the 2nd.
KD took over the game for a couple of stretches as well today. His run in the 2nd half turned this from a competitive game into a blowout. As Bruce said, KD is a psycho who will stop at nothing to win games. His aggressiveness on both sides of the ball is one of this team's greatest assets.
This gives us 20 wins on the season. Let's all reflect on what that means that for a moment. For the entire pre-BRUCE history of Auburn basketball, 20 wins marked an incredible, historic season. BRUCE has us at 20 wins this year and we aren't even at the halfway mark of the SEC season yet. This is why he deserved the life time contract he received yesterday. He has completely changed this program from a bottom dweller into a "new blood" as we were referred to this morning on College Gameday.
