sjweagle ramblings... I've been on this earth for 63 years and amongst my fondest childhood memories are traveling from ATL to Auburn games with my dear dad ('57). My wife and I along with our three now adult AU graduate children have traveled home to Auburn from The Woodlands, TX for Thanksgiving week for 30+ years (including 8 grandchildren now). All year, we look forward to fall afternoons on The Plains especially Thanksgiving week on The Plains with family. Our family has much for which to be thankful and thankfully happiness isn't dependent upon results of sporting events. However, like most Auburn families, we have a mutual passion and love for Auburn. Auburn football is a welcomed escape from the world's craziness.
Last weekend's historical debacle of a loss to NM State wasn't something we even remotely anticipated (obviously nor did our coaches). Then being within JHS last evening and witnessing that devastating and crushing loss to bama, the hurt was real. We hurt for our players who worked so damn hard for an Auburn victory and the Auburn Family as a whole. I'll never understand the coaching decision to "rush" two overmatched defensive linemen along with a dancing "spy".
As my beautiful wife and I walked from JHS to our Auburn home last evening, she reminded me that the sun will still rise tomorrow morning (not this morning it was wet and gloomy in Auburn today). Though our walk is less than a mile, it seems a long ass walk after a devastating and heartbreaking loss and unfortunately it was our second such walk in only 8 days.
This Thanksgiving week yielded the Auburn Family perhaps the worst eight (8) days of football most will ever experience. Two truly historical losses. Hopefully Coach Hugh recruits extremely well going forward and leads our program to much success. Thanksgiving is AUsome and even more awesome with Auburn Victories. Hey Coach... It's Always to Conquer, Never to Yield!
Yeah, though thankful, I am a bit Salty and not looking for any more moral victories. Now the 725-mile drive back to TX tomorrow.
War Damn Eagle Always!
