I spent last night watching Parkview (GA) hand Kell (GA) a 43-24 loss and Parkview's team is stacked with some studs. Of course I was mostly watching Auburn commit Jalyn Crawford, but there are some other things to note. Here are some takeaways:

Crawford definitely is a leader on his team.
  • Even though Parkview won by 19, the team was outscored 17-7 in the second half and Crawford spoke to the team after the game. Basically was saying the effort in the second half was unacceptable and it won't be good enough to win a state title. They're gonna have to play better down the stretch of games if they want to have a chance — Crawford knows this about himself and his team — and he let them know.
  • Even though there was a miscommunication with a safety early and he gave up a big play, he felt pleased about how he played the remainder of the game but knows there's still work to do. He's looking at this season like he's playing in the SEC as far as his approach in training, workouts, practice and games.
  • His recruitment is shut down. Locked in with Auburn and other schools have backed off a good bit. Plans to enroll early and will be back for the Georgia game Sept. 29 for sure, with other home games still undecided.
Don't be surprised to see Mike Matthews at an Auburn game this year.
  • The talented teammate is close friends with Crawford and might ride along one weekend to a game. I'd bet probably the UGA game, which is gonna be a popular one for sure. If anything is certain, it's that Matthews lives and breathes football. Every Saturday he'll be at some college game. Auburn is still talking to him, but I feel like it's a long shot to flip him at this moment. We'll see how a game visit actually impacts his viewpoint on AU if he makes it to one, but for the most part, I think Matthews is just enjoying the ride.
There are some other STUDS on this Parkview squad that caught my eye.
  • Two names: Ira Singleton and Antonio White.
  • Singleton is committed to Miami (OH) and White is committed to Rutgers. The two played out of their minds last night. I mean they were just all over the field making plays. It's just one game so it's a small sample, but man I was impressed. I wouldn't be surprised if some better offers came along this fall and they flipped elsewhere.
