AU through two games, NCAA team statistics:
Offense
Scoring offense: 2nd in the nation. Penn State: 69th
Total offense: 6th in the nation. Penn State: 67th
Team passing efficiency: 4th in the nation and top ranked SEC team. Error in showing Boise # 1 in scoring offense with 69 ppg. Math is hard. Penn State: 56th
Rushing offense: 3rd the nation and behind only Florida among SEC teams. Penn State: 81st
Defense
Total defense: 3rd in the nation (UGA # 1). Penn State: 59th
Scoring defense: # 1 in the nation (UGA # 2, and they’re for real having played Clem and UAB). Penn State respectable here at 15th
Rushing defense: # 1 in the nation (at 21.5 ypg and a nonexistent .66 ypc). UGA ranked 18th and bammer 21st in run defense. Penn State: 56th (uh-oh - Tank and Jarquez)
It’s clearly fair game to attribute much of the above to “degree of difficulty”. But we were typically MIA on these metrics under the prior regime, even against ass competition.
Hars and Mason set a standard, and despite the 11:00 am lethargic start, the dudes are going out and meeting it. Yet with numerous areas we can and will improve.
Now comes the test of game planning to meet an intense road challenge, which under Booger-Boom has been Nix’s undoing.
Hars and Bobo have been setting stuff up. Be careful betting against this AU team.
