Most of you "couldn't care less" about my thoughts, but I'm going to post this anyway.
1) Jeremy Johnson is so far in his own head it would seriously not shock me if he doesn't ever get it together this year. I played competitive golf for about 10 years and I went through periods where my confidence level was so low, when I got over the ball, the only thing I was thinking about were the bad things that could happen, or the places where I couldn't hit it. IMO that's what's going on with JJ. He needs that AHA! moment really, really badly. Hopefully it comes soon.
2) Arthur Gustav Malzahn III is our football coach. Now admittedly, Gus was not my first choice when we were hiring. To his credit though, most of the reasons I didn't want Gus as the coach, he has proven me wrong. He won me over with his work ethic, his willingness to hire good coaches (and fire bad ones), and some of you may laugh at this one, but he seems to have pretty good luck. It's nice to have a coach that has the ball bounce his way more often than not. I know this because I'm the most unlucky person there is. I can spot inherently lucky people quickly. Some of you know what I'm talking about.
Here's the deal on Gus, he is a hard headed SOB. But honestly, I'd rather have a guy that sticks to his guns and goes down doing what he believes is right, than someone who panics at the first sign of distress. Now, would I have pulled JJ last week? Most definitely, but I was panicking watching the game. I'm not scared to admit that. The thought of losing to that team made me physically sick to my stomach.
I truly believe we have a top 5 coach, and though I question him sometimes, I'm going to support him as the coach of this team. He's earned that.
