I was in the lounge today and one young woman was eking out the very last bit of water from one of those fresh water dispensers like they have at the doctor's office, the ones with a big 5 gallon thing of spring water on top. This other lady says hey we need to change that and proceeds to slide the full, replacement 5 gallon water jug over towards the dispenser with her feet. It was too heavy for her to pick up.

I'm just getting my coffee, minding my own business, not really paying attention to them when they begin to discuss how they are going to manage to get that 5 gallon jug of water lifted on top of the dispenser (and flipped upside down with an open top since that's how it goes on the dispenser). Both of these millennial chicks weigh about 110 pounds each. In an effort to be helpful, I say, "Hey, I can put that on there for you if you want..."

They turned and looked at me with disgust like I'd commented negatively on their appearance or something. In unison, it was, "Oh NO, weeeee've got this, we are JUST FINE", dripping with offense at me daring to offer to help them, as if they were not perfectly capable of lifting the 40 lb jug of water (with an open cap) and flipping it over in one swift motion so it doesn't spill to place it on top of the dispenser.

I said, "Okay then!", smiled, and walked out. Don't know if they ever got it on there.

THIS is what it's like to be a chick in 2021? When someone offers to help you, you get visibly offended and huffy?

Fine by me. I'm all for equality. I just think it's dumb on their part. But so be it.
