Cool little story here:
Went and saw Spiritbox and Papa Roach last night at Avondale. The bass player for Spiritbox is from Birmingham and the singer, Courtney LaPlante mentions that and says that it’s a homecoming show for him. His name is Josh Gilbert, and he’s most famous for his time in “As I Lay Dying”. Of course, he had to give the crowd a row tyde, to which Courtney responds and if you don’t like that, War Eagle!
Anyway, a little later in the show Courtney mentions that she always wonders what life would have been like had she never left Alabama as a teen. So that led me to do some research. Also, Cortney pictured here 👇
In an interview she mentions that she grew up in Auburn until she was around 15, where her father was a basketball coach.
Turns out her father, Mike LaPlante, was an assistant coach under Cliff Ellis from 96-00.
Cool little factoid about that band.
