They are stopping fights immediately if a guy is knocked down and his head hits the mat. Some of these dudes instantly start to pop back up but the refs immediately jump on top and call the fight. There is no fighting back from the brink anymore. You'd think that is a huge advantage for guys with power.
The announcers have not brought attention to the changes in any way and have totally backed the stoppages. It makes me think that there was a radical policy change from the top down to keep fighters healthy longterm. Sadly, I think some of those amazing fights where a dude continually fights back from the knockdowns to eventually pull off a stunning victory are a thing of the past. I understand the change though.
