They have continued to keep the girls with their age groups - recruiting class. I have heard from several coaches around the country that the quality of players after the 2020 class has dipped.
It is extremely evident at this camp. I understand that it would be hard to filter quality players via a first to pay first to be accepted softball camp but there are a couple girls at this camp that I am concerned for their safety. The pitchers are serviceable but lack speed. My player throws consistently in the low 60s and occasionally 64ish. The rest are low to mid 50s with the exception of one throwing in the high 50s maybe touching 60. The pitchers get one inning each and it is pain staking at times to watch. My wife thinks it’s due to us having watched our 14 year old player play 18U for the past year. There is talk of moving the more advanced players to the older groups as they did in December and we are hoping for this. Will update tomorrow.
