STORY: GOOD ENOUGH

AUB 101 000 0 - 2

LSU 100 000 0 - 1
F

MARCY HARPER: 6 2/3ip, 2h, 1r, 5bb, 0k (103 pitches/58 strikes)
RACHAEL WALTERS: 1/3 ip, 0h, 0r, 1bb, 0k

1st:
AUB -- Morgan Estell's bases-loaded fielder's choice scores one.
LSU -- Sac fly scores one.

3rd:
AUB -- Wild pitch scores Kasey Cooper.

6th:
LSU -- Odd turn of events. Harper seemed to run out of gas, Walters came on. She coaxed a pop up, walked a batter and then ran the count full with the bases loaded. Then Corey Myers summoned Harper back to the circle. In a 3-0 count! She coaxed a ground ball to get out of the jam. Holy moly.

7th:
LSU -- Marcy Harper coaxed a pop fly and a pair of groundouts to end the LSU threat.

SUMMARY:

LSU was 31-1 at home this season until tonight. Make that 31-2. Harper wasn't overpowering at all, but she kept the ball outside and that seemed to frustrate LSU. She finished without a strikeout. That's not really her game. She kept her mistakes out of the zone instead of down the middle, which was the difference tonight. Coming into a 3-0 count with the bases loaded and getting out of that ... well, that was the game.
