Some interesting factoids for fans of the show...
None of the main 4 were the original choices. Al and Peg were Sam Kinison and Roseanne Barr - who both turned it down. Bud and Kelly were two random actors who never really did much in the industry.
Al's star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame is hilariously located right in front of a shoe store.
Al had great relationships with all the cast except for Marcy, who according to Al became a feminazi in season 3. He said even though he supported her coming out as lesbian, he and Bud were the only two former castmates not invited to her 2010 wedding. She said she was afraid they would laugh at two women in tuxedos. Al later admitted that "yeah, I would've def laughed at that."
Original title was "Not the Cosbys"
Popular belief was that they were named after serial killer Ted Bundy. Actually they and the neighbors were named after King Kong Bundy (who appeared in several episodes) and Dusty Rhoades
The show wasn't very popular until a family values activist from Michigan complained about it in season 3 and tried to get the show canceled and sponsors to pull their ads. A few sponsors actually did - but all the publicity from the Karen drew tons of new viewers and made it a hit. Cast and crew sent her flowers each year the show was renewed after that. In a later episode they even spoofed her by saying a TV show got canceled because "some housewife in Michigan didn't like it."
At the time MWC and Baywatch were the longest running shows to never win an Emmy
Michael Richards auditioned for Al. He got Kramer two years later
Meghan Markle spent a lot of time on set as a young child because her dad was director of photography
The show pretty much ended Ed O'Neill's career as a serious actor. He was dropped from the dramatic movie "Flight of the Intruder" because every time he entered a scene the test audience busted out laughing
