fair in the sense he's blunt about Auburn rolling the dice on Freeze in order to win and win big....he openly and fairly compares and contrasts the hiring of Bruce Pearl and Hugh Freeze...and, based on his talks with opposing coaches, he thinks Freeze will win big at Auburn if given everything he needs to compete with Saban and Smart...
He says this on Freeze...
"I have been told by opposing football coaches that Freeze is arguably the best in-game coach they’ve ever faced. His halftime adjustments are like geometric proofs — things to be studied by nerds who care about that kind of stuff. Freeze went 1-3 against Gus Malzahn at Auburn, but there are other records out there that can easily be spun in favor of Auburn’s new coach. He can coach quarterbacks, and that might be what separates him even from Alabama’s Nick Saban and Georgia’s Kirby Smart."
I know a LOT OF YOU (MAYBE MOST) don't want to give him or al.com clicks, so don't....
For those of you who might want to read a fair and balanced column (criticism and praise) on the hiring, have at it...
