My fellow Bunkerers,

I find it odd that we always seem to have more reported problems than other programs with our highest rated recruits and/or key returning players. So, I did some digging.

My research has revealed Gus is even worse than we all thought at retaining, developing, and using the key personnel he brings in. See for yourself, friends...

(Spoilered for length)

Highest ranked 6-7 recruits by class:

2013 (3/6 busted, dismissed or never made it)
6.1 5* Carl Lawson - mostly injured in '14 and '15, drafted in 4th round after solid 2016 season
6.1 5* Montravius Adams - put it all together senior year; drafted late 3rd round

5.9 4* Earnest Robinson - never made it to campus... grades
5.9 4* Jeremy Johnson - lol
5.9 4* Elijah Daniel - dismissed heading into junior year

5.9 4* Ben Bradley - undrafted

2014 (4/6 busted or dismissed)
6.1 5* Tre Williams - solid player; has missed 3 games this year due to injury
6.1 5* D'haquille Williams - fantastic junior season; dismissed midway through senior year
6.1 5* Roc Thomas - never lived up to billing; transferred prior to junior year

6.0 4* Braden Smith - great guard; will play in NFL for a long time
5.9 4* Sean White - underwhelmed; dismissed from team during junior year
5.9 4* Justin Thornton - never gained weight and never contributed; transferred after 2 years

2015 (2/6 busted or dismissed; 1/6 still unknown)
6.1 5* Jovon Robinson - promising but underutilized 2015; dismissed before 2016 season
6.1 5* Byron Cowart - former #1 overall, didn't live up to hype; quit team mid junior season

6.0 4* Kerryon Johnson - Gus's favorite player ever; All-SEC caliber when healthy; not healthy much
6.0 4* Ryan Davis - arguably our best utilized WR; thanks Boom and TRob
5.9 4* Darrell Williams - very solid player and arguably our best LB; thanks TWill
5.9 4* Tyler Carr - TBD

2016 (5/7 busted, dismissed, or left)
6.1 5* Narlob - beast from Day 1; thanks FAM
6.1 5* Derrick Brown - beast from Day 1; thanks Rotnei
6.0 4* Nate Craig-Myers - deserves better; shines every opportunity; gets no opportunities
6.0 4* Elijah Stove - being developed into good Onterrio McCalebb and a mediocre WR
5.9 4* Kyle Davis - a few breath-taking highlights, underused; dismissed during 2nd year
5.9 4* Antwuan Jackson - mysteriously left before sophomore year
5.8 4* Landon Rice - dismissed for nefarious dealings with female

***FINDINGS:

WE'VE HAD AS MANY OF OUR TOP 6-7 RECRUITS IN OUR PAST 4 CLASSES DISMISSED OR TRANSFER (10/25) AS WE HAVE HAD THAT MADE POSITIVE CONTRIBUTIONS (10/25). THAT'S ASTOUNDINGLY BAD RETENTION AND PERSONNEL MAXIMIZATION!

(We're not just talking about players failing to live up to their 'crootin hype. We're talking about malcontents that leave the program, either by force or of their own volition. Just abysmal personnel management, I'm afraid.)

*Two players (Nate Craig-Myers and Eli Stove) have been grossly underutilized but are still TBD at this point.

*One player (Earnest Robinson) never made it in due to grades.

*One player (Jeremy Johnson) was just an unfathomable bust.

*One player (Tyler Carr) is still an unknown.

****Other key player shenanigans:

QB Nick Marshall - All-SEC (Honorable Mention) - suspended for weed prior to 2014 season
RB Kam Pettway - All-SEC RB - suspended (multiple times) for weed and possibly other things

Yikes, Gussy.

Talk about getting the very best out of your most important and highly sought-after players.

Worry not, sports fans. It will all be over soon. Finally.
