BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – After leading the top-ranked Tigers with a pair of top three finishes at the Ben Hogan Collegiate Invitational, Auburn men’s golf’s Brendan Valdes and Billy Davis were named SEC Golfers of the Week, the league office announced Wednesday.
Valdes earns outright Golfer of the Week for the third time in his career. It is his fourth weekly conference honor as he captured Freshman of the Week in March of 2022. Davis picks up his first career recognition as he earned SEC Freshman of the Week.
Tuesday at the Hogan, Valdes finished as the individual runner-up thanks to a 6-under, 69-66-69 performance. He was the top-placing player from the SEC. The Orlando, Florida native set a new Auburn record with his 19th career top 10 outing.
In the second tournament of his collegiate career, Davis finished just one shot back of Valdes at 5-under by way of a 68-67-70 scorecard. He finished tied for third.
The Tigers return to action Oct. 20-22 at The Williams Cup in Wilmington, North Carolina. Eagle Point Club host is set to host the event.
