I need someone with in depth football knowledge to help answer a question for me. I'm no idiot when it comes to the game, but I just struggle to understand how a guy like Sammie, as physically gifted as he is + as impactful of a college player he was, could sputter out and be so unsuccessful in his first year at the NFL.
This guy runs in the 4.4's, can jump over small buildings, is stronger than most receivers and made big play after big play in the college game. Why is he not able to make the rotation for an NFL team? Are the routes and schemes THAT difficult? Do you have to be 1000% razor sharp on every timing route, otherwise you don't make the grade? What is it about the NFL game that can deem Coates unsuccessful, but Kelvin Benjamin a star?
