This morning we celebrated the life of Wade Morris. Wade was a youth evangelist and I met him over a decade ago. He was the camp pastor at a few of our church’s youth camps. My son interned with him after his first year in college. He’s had an amazing impact on the Kingdom and he’s had an amazing impact on my family and me. He will leave a void that is difficult to fill.
Today at the celebration, John 14 was reference and the number of rooms in our Father’s House was mentioned. The amount of construction that has taken place to build more rooms because of Wade Morris’ willingness to share the gospel is immeasurable.
Wade was a guy who took life at full speed. He was a marathon runner, and his appetites were extreme. He loved life and he loved his wife and precious daughters more than words can express. His death was shocking to say the least. He was 50 and he died of pneumonia as a complication of Covid.
I understand that almost every time that word is mentioned it becomes a pissing contest and I’m not interested in that. I understand the thoughts that we are all going to die of something and this is just one of those things. I love my freedom and I hate being told what to do. I’m sick of hearing about Covid and masks and shots and all the back and forth. I get it, but today my heart is broken for my friend and his wife and two daughters that are at a loss without their daddy. No pie charts or survival rates or vaccination statistics are going to change that. A man is dead today and a family is left without a husband and father because of this Insidious virus. I can’t describe how sad that makes me.

if you are one who is so inclined, please pray for Deb, Eden & Trinity Morris today and in the coming days. Pray they will be cradled in the loving arms of our Father. Pray that their grief and emptiness will be filled by the grace of God and overwhelmed by the flood of beautiful memories of their husband and dad. Pray that God will continue to be glorified in and through the life of Wade Morris and that someone will take up where he left off and continue to impact the world for the Kingdom.
I’m also praying that we can become a little less passionate about this virus and a little more compassionate about it. Maybe try and understand each other a little more than trying to find villains agaisnt which we can rail. Maybe we can care a little more about someone other than ourselves.
thank you in advance for praying for my friends and thank you in advance for forgiving the self-indulgent nature of this post.
