Caught the Austin show last night on a road trip with some old friends. That new 360 Amphitheater is FRIGGIN' HUGE.
There's a fun theme to this tour that I won't spoil, but suffice to say over the course of the 3-hour show they play something (and in a few cases very surprising somethings) from the band's entire career. Obviously a great show; Rush doesn't play bad ones, but if you're a casual fan who only knows from the stuff that plays on "classic rock" radio, most of the first set probably is going to be a letdown. The second set, on the other hand, is basically Rush Nirvana (no, they don't play Smells Like Teen Spirit--sheesh). Some interesting celebrity cameos in one particular song, including Aaron Paul, Peter Dinklege (sp?) and these guys:
Catch 'em if you can. This is almost certainly the last Rush tour; if/when they play live after this year, it'll most likely be limited to a few occasional shows in NYC, Toronto and LA. Atlanta show is the Tuesday after Memorial Day.
