After rewatching game, the key moment in ball game was the 3rd and 1 at the end of the 3rd quarter. Shenker blocked the wrong person and the defensive player made the run stop. We should have doubled down and went for another run as good as our running game had been at that point. I understand the call on the field, but we had the momentum at that point. Even the 4 and 2 at the goaline at the end of the game, we should have run power with two TE with Bigsby to get the two yards. Our passing game wasn't terrible, but Nix was a little off on his deep passes most of the night for the big play potential. Our WRs didn't help very much in the game. Also, Kobi's fumble was a very tough turnover and momentum loss in the ball game. The defense overran the play, and he had the cut back by at least 20 yards if not more. Very unfortunate. The thing I'm most disappointed about the game was the scheme offensively and defensively. We could have forced our will against them on the running game while keeping them a little honest on a few playaction. Mason should have made some adjustments at halftime with the information he had from the 1st half. We weren't taking enough chances with the pass rush to put pressure on the QB. Inexcusable. We have the secondary to play man or run blitzes to mix it up. I understand not wanting to give up the big play, but there is no reason that QB should go 28 for 32. Lastly, we did get a few questionable calls at the end of the game. I was looking for the pass interference call in the end zone on the 4th and 2. If they didn't call it there, they shouldn't have called on us the next defensive series at the goaline. It's a tough loss. This game was a good measuring stick for where we are at this point. We were a few plays from beating a top 10 team on the road. It didn't go our way. We will make the adjustments in personnel and scheme and will beat LSU. I do think we surprise some folks with one we weren't supposed to win this season. It's hard to find moral victories with a loss, but there is a huge difference in this team with this staff vs the old regime. It won't take us 6 games to figure it out.
