A repost of my announcement from earlier in the week. 500 Songs For Kids is also going on at Vinyl tonight (Friday):
I'll be playing with Chronic But Not Serious, my wife's pick-up band, at 500 Songs For Kids this Saturday night at Vinyl in Atlanta (now try saying all that fast without taking a breath). 500 SFK is a great fund-raiser for the Songs For Kids Foundation, which provides music for patients in childrens hospitals. The wife is the director of MT for Children's Healtcare of Atlanta, and the band is made up mostly of music therapists. I got shanghaied in to play lead guitar this year (they couldn't find anybody else on short notice).
500 Songs For Kids is literally 500 different bands playing 500 different songs, one after another. This year it's spread out over several weekends, I think there are 50 songs a night. Ours is the Van Halen version of "You Really Got Me." My wife got the Michael Anthony part; I got Eddie's. I really need to become a better negotiator.
Cover is "pay what you want" (in previous years it's been $10), and all proceeds go to the Songs For Kids Foundation. There will be a lot of really good bands playing that night, so if I stink, you'll still get your money's worth. In addition to all the 500SFK bands, Arrested Development will be doing a short (I think about five songs) set around 10:30 or 11PM. Venue is Vinyl (in the same building as Center Stage Theater) on West Peachtree in Midtown.
