I was going to smoke some chicken tonight. I turned my smoker on to about 325 and came back 10–15 minutes later and had more smoke coming out of the hopper then out of the grill. Subsequently I turned it off. I confirmed that the Smoke was mostly coming from the hopper. I left that and the grill closed to try to starve that of any oxygen. The smoke seems to be slowing down. I have a hose and fire extinguisher at the ready.. I assume I just wait this out and then empty out the whole hopper? it had been two or three weeks since I had fired up the smoker but the burn pit had been shopvac’d before I put it away last time.
