Reading up on how QBR is calculated, and this may be a dumbass stat to go by.

For instance, let's say QB1 goes 1 for 1 for 10 yards and QB2 goes 1 for 1 for 5 yards.

Based on the stats, you would say QB1 had the better QBR, but you'd be wrong.

QB1 may have thrown for 10 yards, but turns out it was 3rd and 15. QB2 may have only threw 5 yards, but it was 2nd and 5 and he got a first down, thus his QBR rating is higher.

It's long, but here is the explanation:


So, because QB1's OL got a false start and pushed them back 5 yards, per ESPN, his QBR was worse, despite his stats being better on the game log.

Another thing, let's say QB1 throws an incomplete pass, but their was PI on the defense. Well, because the team got a 1st down, his QBR goes up.

I am not saying it can't be useful, but let's not use it solely when judging the QBs we're after.
