I've spent a surprising amount of time during the past few days gazing at our (new) scholarship matrix.
There's a lot to learn there IMO.
One thing that jumps out to me is how important Ryan Davis will be to this offense moving forward. He's my second-favorite player in Auburn's Class of 2015 (behind Cowart) because his open-field ability is remarkable. Players like Davis are difficult to find because even gifted skill guys rarely have that kind of vision, agility and acceleration.
I realize he's small -- likely shorter than his "official" height of 5-foot-9 -- but Davis has a chance to be a front-line performer in this system. In fact, it's all but inevitable.
Auburn's depth at WR is questionable after this senior class exits after the next bowl game. There are candidates, sure, and nobody can fuss about Marcus Davis. He's come up big every time he's been asked to come up big. He's an A player in my mind, albeit an underutilized one.
Davis is a magician in the open field. Hit him on a quick route, maybe those bubbles that made T-Zac a star back in 2009, and let him do his thing. Auburn still must have prime-time players on the periphery (Nate Craig-Myers is the perfect fit) but Davis could be good as it gets when it comes to torturing defenses in the flats.
Just a random observation ...
