I asked this in another thread that is slowly drifting down the page so I felt a new thread on this topic may be appropriate.
When was the last time there was positive info on JR?
All through camp it was never even implied by coaches he had risen above third in the pecking order and around the week of the louisville game I remember an interview where either Gus or Rhett made it sound like he was equal or perhaps even behind KJ. We heard decent reports out of spring but during A-Day he looked third best to most observers. Last fall he had a terrible season and we all attributed it to GMC losing talent from the year before.
I know it’s hard to get any info from this group of coaches and I know the bunker is still in panic mode but the talk of JR over Roc and JR needing more carries…well from what I can infer from the articles posted and the pod cast and the interviews with coaches it just doesn’t sound like he has earned them.
So JGT I’m wondering if in your opinion he is behind KJ (who had a wonderful carry to start off OT) at the moment and if the coaches feel that is warranted. Also, are we looking at a Brandon Jacobs situation where we just have better great backs, a Kenny Irons situation where he is a stud but the coaches are punishing him for not understanding the totality of the offense, or is this something wholly unique?
And J Lee I know JR’s recruitment was all but wrapped up when you came back but do you remember any reports of dissatisfaction from the GMC coaches last year?
Some of this may be beyond the scope of what y’all want to post on the bunker but if it isn’t I am just curious about why a guy who was poised to be a feel good story this year and who appeared to have all the talent in the world can’t even see the field when an FCS team is stomping our butts all over it.
