Look, I know this thread is going to turn dumb before it reaches 20 replies, and when it does I'll bow out, but hoping a sensible conversation can happen before then.
I get why tariffs can be good, but is it not possible to only tariff certain things instead of putting a blanket wide tariff on a country?
For instance, say we want people to buy from only American lumberyards, then just put a tariff on lumber from other countries and don't put tariffs on things that aren't produced here, like electronic parts.
Is it not possible to pick and choose what tariffs go on?
