We just got done viewing 30 minutes of practice. While we didn't see much (they were stretching for 10 of the minutes), there were some observations:
- Payton Thorne and Jarquez Hunter were running first team reps. Nick Mardner, Jay Fair and Omari Kelly were the wide receivers. Rivaldo Fairweather was the tight end.
- Second group was Robby Ashford, Damari Alston. Receivers Shane Hooks, Caleb Burton and Jaiyre Shorter. Tight end was Luke Deal. Malcolm Johnson Jr. also got some reps.
- Dylan Senda was playing right guard today. They like his versatility on the offensive line.
- Cassidy Woods (a walk-on) was out there. He could get some snaps.
- I, Brian Stultz, focused on how the quarterbacks and coaches interacted. Robby seems a lot more willing to learn from mistakes than in the past. When he wasn't taking snaps, he was picking the brain of Philip Montgomery, Hugh Freeze or Kent Austin. Payton Thorne was also talking to those three in between his time behind center.
- Thorne was consistent with his passes. Ashford was more consistent than last week, but still had some throws that were just a bit off. Holden continues to throw a good ball.
- Mosiah Nasili-Kite has clearly trimmed down since the spring from around 300 to 285. He looks much quicker and could be a big boost for the defensive end position.
