Why not make any cop who dons riot or military gear wear a body cam and record the entire ordeal until they remove the gear? We'd have hundreds of viewpoints of a protest or riot, it would make cops understand they're on record and can't get away with anything, and it would provide an easy method for police departments to squash false narratives and hold their police accountable to the public.

Right now, cameras only record small lengths of time. Recording an entire 8 hour shift would take a lot of technology upgrades for PDs, but it wouldn't rely on the officer to toggle recording to preserve recording space.

Many people preached bodycams as a way to carch police doing something wrong after the fact. Now folks are realizing more often than not they actually protect officers from lying pieces of shit accusing them of wrongdoing.

This plus the aspect of paying for the technology to record everything. People often forget that money is finite. I’d be fine if all officers wore body cameras that recorded everything. Maybe some of these cities will look into reallocating funds to support it. Is that the response of these liberal cities? No. They’d prefer support ideas like Keith Ellison’s son and disband the police, and replace them with another option they’d grant the same power to and would result in the same outcome. The same local government that is responsible for the currently alleged failing police department is going to push for a new option they would also oversee...
