This article discusses the benefits of plant protein compared to animal protein and their effect on longevity. This isn't a debate thread, only informative. IMO, the reason for the benefit of plant protein instead of animal protein involves the amount of sulfur they contain. Animal protein contains more sulfur than plant protein. When you study the biological pathways of the body and how those pathways can break down, having less sulfur reduces chances of the transsulfuration pathway from breaking down. That means low levels of Vitamin B6 or low levels of molybdenum won't effect the plant protein eater as much. One must also take into consideration the amount of sulfur reducing bacteria one has in their GI tract. The more sulfur you eat, the more of those gram negative bacteria you need to reduce that sulfur. Those bacteria cause inflammation which ties up available immune response. Long story short, we will be more healthy in general if we at less animal protein. But we would also be more healthy if we ate less calories. Replacing animal protein with white bread isn't going to make you healthier. It's about eating less amounts of nutritious foods. That's not easy to do now-a-days.
