The one wrinkle I'm increasingly curious to see if Petrino tries to roll out is the zone read, in order to help catalyze his ground game and take some pressure off his young QB.
Petrino has never run zone read, or any spread concepts to my knowledge, however the fact he has recruited not one, but two DTQBs in his first two recruiting classes with UL, despite the fact he's never before used DTQBs in his coaching career, signals a paradigm shift in Petrino's head. To what end remains to be seen, however we may be about to find out.
The fact Bonnafon won the starting job seems to align with this line of thought.
If they have spent all offseason installing zone read concepts into Petrino's system, that could pose a massive game 1 challenge for our defense and for Boom.
UF spent one week, mid-season, installing it last season for Treon Harris against UGA and absolutely trucked UGA. Petrino, with an entire offseason and a new toolbox, against a superior SEC opponent....dangerous.
