Anyone have any insight into how the streaming services work? I know artists get small royalties when their songs are played, but surely they are also paying to be part of the algorithm. For example…I keep having the exact same song pop up right after whatever song I have requested on a radio stream with Spotify. It’s a new song and so I just have to think that artist has paid for that promotion. Granted I know it’s still based on genre/taste, I have to think it’s pay for play within that.
