we are at the beginning of a painful rebuild similar to basketball. We are really in year one as OL is no better than last year. DBs stepped back a bunch from last year, and QB is the same. Those three roster deficiencies are too much to overcome. Every decision made from the onset will determine the length of the rebuild (we had the wrong coordinators year 1).

In terms of the basketball rebuild it helped that we honestly didn’t care a great deal about basketball in the really bad first couple of years of Bruce’s tenure at AU. That’s what makes this rebuild so painful. We deeply care about football at AU.

IMO with gravity having set in that there will be no bowl, Hugh job now is to someone keep the good of the roster and finish recruiting (with a good QB). The wins aren’t coming this year (5 is even a stretch now).

Oklahoma played the 4th quarter brilliantly. They had some luck too. With pass pro being the worst element of this team being aggressive in the 4th q is exactly what they should have done. That blitz from the field was a very smart play on our last drive.
