Most of us have likely seen the stories because it's gone national at this point. Portions of her tale seem to stretch credulity though.
Boosting her tale is the abundance of scratches, bites and minor scarring shown in the photos. There's also the matter of her dramatic weight loss.
Things that don't make sense are more numerous. Early reports were that she made a getaway from two companions who were going to rob a hunting camp. How did she become lost after that? Was she not near a roadway when that happened?
She was found naked on a roadside. Why did she have no clothes? Why would you shed your clothes in a survival situation?
Her skin is dramatically darker than it was before her disappearance. If she were "in the woods" the entire time, how was she exposed to enough sunlight to make her look like she fell asleep in a tanning bed?
I haven't seen any accounts telling about pests on her. Were she naked in the woods, her head should have been filled with ticks. Is she at danger for Lyme disease?
She said she was so thirsty she had to drink from mud puddles and creeks. Why didn't she follow said creeks to larger bodies of water, then to help?
Also, if she was so dehydrated and exposed to the elements, why weren't her lips chapped when she was found?
I've done a good bit of hiking in my youth. The last before my lungs made it too hard was a 12-mile day-long journey through the Conecuh National Forest in 1999. Even then, it was impossible to walk all day without getting to a point somewhere in our journey where we could hear distant traffic.
Did she come across no game trails or trails of any other sort? In weeks of time?
Early reports claimed she survived by eating mushrooms. There are roughly 250 significantly toxic species of mushrooms in North America. Unless she had a background in mycology or wilderness survival, how did she manage to prevent being poisoned? Blind luck?
Then there's the fact she turned up right after charges against her were dropped. Convenient timing, eh?
EDIT TO ADD: One report said she is "legally blind." None of the photos of her show eyeglasses. Either she removed them for photos or wears contact lenses. If she wears contacts, how did she maintain them for the 25 days in the wilderness? If she was dehydrated, they would have become even more uncomfortable or possibly dangerous, maybe even fallen out.
Without glasses or contacts, how does a "legally blind" person manage to find berries in the woods?
