There are 4 highrises going up within 5 blocks of me, two directly behind me on my block near the Park. The growth is crazy. The one on 14th /West Peachtree is going to have a Whole Foods in the Bottom Floor. I think that one is 72 stories. Azure at the park is going up on 11th/Piedmont. Yoo at the Park on 13th behind me. I believe there are a total of 8 highrise apartments/condos going up right now in Midtown. And The Old Fourth Ward has exploded along the new beltline. I run on it every day, and it is getting so crowded. The Ponce City Market Farmer's Market opens on the Beltline in May. Inman Park has exploded. And this doesn't even touch all of the new development in West Midtown..restaurants Galore. The growth is crazy. The great thing is in-town Atlanta is becoming a walkable city with all of the bars/stores and restaurants going up. Gentrification has SOME people up in arms. But most agree all of this growth is good because Atlanta is finally growing into its own...The City limits of Atlanta is 54% African American as of 2013 down from 68% in 2000. This has all kinds of political ramifications in this town as in-town has become the place to be. Atlanta was recently named #1 major city in gentrification. The good thing is Atlanta has always deemed itself as the city too busy to hate. We have a lot of diversity here. So hopefully all of this growth is only going to reinforce that.
