So my dog has skin allergies and my vet has put him on 40 milligrams of prednisone for 5 days and 20 milligrams for the next 5 days.

He and I both are miserable! He’s constipated. He’s constantly having to pee. I’ve been up the past two mornings letting him out at 3 am. He’s restless and not sleeping well even after a long day of playing hard, which will usually knock him out.

I’ve called into my vet but that was over and hour ago. I’m not giving him another dang pill until I either hear back or I know he’s pooped.

My question is whether that’s an abnormally large dose of prednisone for a dog. I know humans get much, much smaller doses.
I know I still have to talk to my vet, but good grief it just seems like a lot for a dog even if he does weigh 95 lbs.
