The WKU Brain Drain got me thinking and with free time on my hands this week I’ve been contemplating and testing brown water for comparisons.

Lots of folks want the hard-to-find stuff. Many will freeze their asses off this Friday for a chance at some from their local store Black Friday sale. There are alternatives- albeit not true replacements- to those sought after brands that are readily available even in most state-run liquor stores.

Here is a humble offering for my fellow Bunks who may be curious. I approached this with eye (and palate) toward mash bill, proof point and age. Again, none of these are straight substitutions but serve as a worthy alternative. And for those truly jonesing for the rarer stuff, we need to organize an ATL get-together/swap meet. I’m down to share.
Eagle Rare ~ Russell’s Reserve 10yr
Blanton’s ~ Old Forrester 1910
EH Taylor Small Batch ~ Heaven Hill Bonded or Evan Williams White Label Bonded
Weller Full Proof ~ Maker’s Cask Strength
Four Roses LE Small Batch ~ Old Grandad 114
Stagg Jr. ~ Elijah Craig Barrel Proof

Bonus for those interested in bargain bourbons with varied distribution. Here are some worth exploring that I enjoy often. Cheers, Happy Thanksgiving!
