I have a job opportunity which will require moving 12 hours from our current location. This is a good opportunity for me. I'm still not 100% decided on this because of the stress that comes with completely changing locations. My wife is super stressed out about this which is making me feel less certain about this move. We have two kids that are in elementary school so they are not really concerned. Everybody says they are at an age that is easier to make a move.
My fear is passing on this and realizing that in 6 months it was a huge mistake to pass. Living with regrets.
Anybody ever been in this situation and how did you handle this?
UPDATE:
Just a brief update… my wife is coming around to being on board with the idea of moving. I think she sees the financial security benefits and the path to greater opportunity. We spoke through the timeline last night and I think that helped. We are also looking to rent for the first year to help not stress about closing on a house without knowing the area. Seems like this might happen.
Second update:
Start the new job today. Sold our house and close on the new house in two weeks. Everyone is excited to be here. My wife landed a job almost immediately. Thanks for the support throughout this process.
