...instead of The Bunker. For the last three months, the prevailing sentiment has been, "I can't wait for football season. It's my favorite part of the year!"
Then it gets here and I see and abundance of backbiting, animosity and lashing out. The overwhelming negativity is stupefying because if this is the way some folks "enjoy" something, I'd hate to see what it's like when they endure something they don't "enjoy."
Was I happy with Auburn's performance? Nope, but it's over and there's nothing I can do about it now. I still got to indulge in something I miss like hell when it's gone.
And now I get to sit in the comfort of my living room, with a roof over my head and food in my stomach and watch other games I will enjoy as well. I'm eager to see State and LSU square off and will relish what I can of it.
To those kids who visited East Alabama from Chicago, who will leave Auburn and head back to one of the most notoriously poverty-stricken and dangerous inner-city sectors in the country, it doesn't make a difference whether Auburn won by 70 or 7. Their perspective is shaped by things more important than the point spread of a football game.
This won't always be here and neither will we. Appreciate it while you got it.
