I heard his dad flew to the game to surprise him. Talk about life changing disappointment for him and his family… That kid has been playing with passion and a chip on his shoulder since he got to AU, and that’s one of the big reasons for our success. I pray he’s able to forgive himself and move on from this in short time, I can promise you it’s not going to be easy. Big time athletes are usually their own worst critic.
We all make mistakes and he definitely made one that impacted the Auburn Family today. He had 9 other teammates who all play regularly and are scholarship players who should’ve been able to have his back.
I’d imagine Bruce Pearl feels very responsible as well. He’s not known as a massive disciplinarian and CBM has had a history of “playing outside the lines” that’s gotten worse as of late. He loves his guys and believes in them…maybe that cost us too. He’d most likely tell you he left JB and DJ on the bench too long, and maybe should have gone with CM over KDJ there more at the end…They’re all hurtin wayyy worse than any of us for sure!
I forgive them both! We all should!
It’s only a game, and I (or you) never spent a moment of effort working and sacrificing for the program like those guys have. They’ve all worked tirelessly since last March, and just came up short today.
