Defense... I think we looked much improved on the defensive side of the ball. We still have a long way to go but I could see some improvement out of that group. I know the UL QB tore us up that second half but I really think that is more due to his ability than just overall poor defense. Sure we may have lost contain more times than you would like but damn...that kid is really good at running. Everyone will point to Monty and Carl as standouts but what caught my eye was Holland. On his limited snaps he really jumped out. I think he has a chance to be really good before his time is done on the Plains. Also, I really liked the fire our boys seem to play with today. You can see the impact that Boom has had on that unit.
Offense:...I'm not sure I have seen a QB struggle that much under Gus but I think he will settle in and be fine. He didn't just become bad today. I know he made some horrible throws today but I believe that as the season goes on he will be just fine. I think killing all the hype around him may work to our advantage. I think our offensive line will be really good before this season is done. The RB's will be just fine. Hopefully we can get some of the other backs healthy so Peyton can grab a break from time to time.
Overall, I'm really happy to escape the dome with a win. They kicked our butt most of the second half and that doesn't really sit well with me. I like for our team to finish strong and not fade away as the game goes on. I do think that will get better as our coaches will get that corrected(or should). Hopefully Gus will get Jeremy to focus and quit putting our defense in bad situations. I know Gus will. War Eagle...1-0
