No, the title is not a typo, but a play on words regarding the Mic Man at Auburn football games and one of John Steinbeck's greatest literary feats. I am a fairly recent graduate and sat in the block/fraternity seating most of my college career. There are few things that get under the skin of younger fans (College kids) than the Mic Man. I've heard obscenities yelled at the Mic Man that I wouldn't wish on my own worst enemy. And some of it is deserving. Once he started SHOVE IT when we were on defense and you would think that the drunk college kids just found out they weren't getting an allowance from their parents that month with all the bitching and moaning.
How do you feel about the Mic Man? I understand its tradition, and it's been going on for a while, and it makes Auburn unique. It also can be very annoying and corny at the same time. Is it just a Creed Maunster thing or do the fans who only care about W's also like the Mic Man? Is it a generational thing? Do the people who don't really care about the game in attendance (i.e. wives with no affiliation to the school or team) enjoy the Mic Man?
Personally, I find the Mic Man a bit cumbersome, but you won't find me leading the petition charge to get him out. I just find it amusing that a person can have so much negativity and animosity thrust upon them for trying to do their job of pumping positive vibes into the fans.
