Here's the STORY on the three Auburn players and three signees taken over the last couple of days. Here's some more intel...
** Going into the draft, Auburn fully expected RHP Connor Gatwood to go in the first two rounds. He turned down offers of more than $1 million. It will probably be on or near the signing deadline, which is Aug. 1, before we have a final answer on Gatwood. Source calls it 50/50 at this time. He was drafted by the Angels in the 19th round.
** Source also calls it about 50/50 on OF/1B D’Marion ‘Bub’ Terrell, who went in the 19th to the Blue Jays. Probably have that resolved sooner that Gatwood.
** The current expectation is that catcher Chase Fralick will stay at Auburn. He's currently enrolled in classes at AU this summer. He was drafted by the Padres in the 20th round.
** Former shortstop Cooper Weiss is signing a free agent deal with the Padres.
** LHP Drew Nelson has entered the transfer portal.
