That QB that we just faced is probably one of the better all around qbs we will face all year long. That guy was putting the ball into the spots that only his guy could get.
Yes, it shouldn't matter if he does this, but I don't really think our defense played that bad. We have a problem stopping the power read, but I think alignment and gap responsibility is to blame for the that.
As for the offense, I have no idea what JJ is seeing when he is behind center right now. The arky game he played in last year I remember him making those passes across the middle of the field quite a few times.
I just think that right now he is trying to shoulder the load instead of doing what he is supposed to do. If you do what the coaches ask of you then the outcome will usually be in your favor.
Who was it last week that said he throws off his back foot? Whoever that was absolutely nailed it. Watching him throw all game and noticed that many times. The only ball he really stepped into was the wheel route to Roc (he was running forward outside the pocket). This is something that I hope Gus and Rhett work on with him this week. You can tell when a qb is making high throws as his miss that he isn't stepping into it. You tend to float the ball when you press off the back foot. You are supposed to drive through the throw. Not sit back.
Guys and gals I am not sure why we are so worried right now. It is very early in the season. I know we just almost lost to Jax state, but come on, it only takes 1 play to get your squad back rolling like I know ours can. We have seen times during both our games where our run games was unstoppable and our offense looked really good. All we have to do now is execute and do this the entire game. Tall order for our squad right now.
I think a lot of our problems right now are just execution problems. We missed blocks on offense and we miss aligned and filled the wrong gaps on defense. These problems are all correctable. I still cannot figure out why we cannot get a pass rush without Lawson on the field. Some of these guys on the DL need to step up their play.
Although I am very upset by the way we played I still want to try and take away a good thing from the game. We never gave up. That was probably the worst game we have played since Gus got here and we still won. Our guys didn't give up and made the plays at the end of the game to win it.
Peyton Barber looks to be the heart and soul of this squad right now. We need JJ to feed off that. His pass in OT to get that first down was one of the better plays we have had all year. Its called taking the check down and letting our superior athletes make plays in space. Hopefully we can do more of this moving forward.
Sorry for the long post, but lets hold our criticism until after this lsu game(our guys just simply overlooked Jax St.). I still firmly believe we can win it.
