I've loved Auburn and Auburn football for 5 plus decades.
The college football world has changed, irrevocably.
The number of folks who are willing to step back and say "You know, our new coach needs 3-4 years to make us competitive again, but I'm going to keep pouring money into the program even though I can't see the results on the field" is shrinking, and even those folks have to be convinced that we have the right man for the job.
Many folks expect results overnight - we have become an instant gratification society - which isn't reasonable.
That said, it's not unreasonable to expect to see marginal improvement over the course of an entire season and two off seasons under the new coach. Any progress by the defense, and we can see the young talent there at times, has been overshadowed by the regression of the offense and the lack of a QB at a program with Auburn's resources.
It's endemic and it's a generational issue for Auburn at this point. Not sure how we can fix it.
I personally need to shift to just being a casual fan. Not sure how to do that.
No clue if we got the right guy or not. Sigh.
