I don't think it's a savior by any means. But I mentioned it after the JSU game and am bringing it up again now. We had a wildcat package when Cam and Marshall were here which I always laughed about because those guys could run it about as well as the backs and could throw it (obviously). Made no sense. It was a different story and made good sense in the Todd/Trotter/Wallace/Frazier/Mosley years of 09 and 11-12.
So fast forward to now, it is stunning to me Gus refuses to run a Jason Smith or somebody else wildcat/read option package. I'm not at practices so one may not even exist. Which would be even more stunning.
So essentially we either a) have no wildcat pkg or b) are refusing to even use it even for one play despite horrible qb struggles so far if we do have the package installed. Either way, the blind faith in JJ, stubborness, arrogance about system, fear of wrecking jj's confidence or whatever led to either a or b above is concerning to me.
