Press release...

Brett Price has been named strength and conditioning coach for Auburn baseball, head coach Butch Thompson announced Monday.

“We are thrilled to add a coach with the background of Brett’s to our staff,” Thompson said. “I’ve had months to think about this position and there are so many qualified coaches that desire to be at a school like Auburn in the SEC. Brett has the experience, he’s knows the state of Alabama and he’s worked in college baseball in our state.

“Brett wants to be an elite trainer of college baseball student-athletes. I think the thing that made me want Brett Price as our strength coach the most was that he went out and sought training from the best in the business. Combine that with a recommendation from a coach I have great respect for in Bobby Pierce and it was a no brainer.”

Price joins the Auburn baseball program from Rapid Sports Performance in Woodstock, Ga. Prior to his appointment in Georgia, he spent time at Cressey Sports Performance in Jupiter, Fla. In both positions, Price was responsible for developing and implementing training programs specifically designed for baseball players from high school to professional levels.

Cressey Sports Performance, owned by Eric Cressey, is widely considered the national leader in baseball strength and conditioning.

“We want to be a leader in developing our players to the best of their abilities,” Thompson said. “Hiring Brett allows us to continue to push that goal in the realm of strength and conditioning.”

Price has also worked as a camp instructor with New Balance Area Code baseball camps across the country. His primary responsibilities included testing and instruction of high school baseball athletes on proper ways to train.

“This is an incredible opportunity to join the staff here at a school like Auburn,” Price said. “I’m excited and thankful for Coach Thompson trusting me with this opportunity. I’m ready to get started and thrilled for the opportunity to work with such a top caliber coaching staff.”

Price served two seasons from 2014-15 as strength and conditioning coach for Troy baseball and softball in the Sun Belt Conference. During that time, he designed and implemented training regiments for both programs.

He also spent time as a strength and conditioning intern with Troy athletics in 2013 as well as two seasons as video coordinator with Troy baseball from 2011-13.

Price holds both undergraduate (sport and fitness management/business, 2013) and master’s degrees (sport and fitness management/exercise science, 2015) from Troy University. He played two seasons of collegiate baseball at Lawson State Community College in Birmingham from 2010-11.

A native of Prattville, Ala., Price is a certified strength and conditioning specialist (CSCS) by the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA). He is engaged to Brooke Spinks of Tifton, Ga. The couple will wed in November.
