I grew up an Ole Miss fan and went to college at Auburn starting in 2007. Knowledge and context of AD happenings prior is lacking.
I need some clarification of the PTB and how their seemingly suffocating influence is an Auburn thing and not an every major program thing.
I would imagine that every school in the country, especially in the SEC, has a group at the top of influential donors and board members who have deep pockets and make sure their voices are heard. Why do we not hear about them when other schools are hiring? Are their fans discussing it, but the media doesn’t pick up on it and they are in their bubble like we are?
Or does this all come down to us lacking, up until this point, a President and AD combo that the board and PTB feel can get the job done?
Of course, all of this is magnified by the extreme success of our two biggest rivals. No doubt about it. They’ve gotten it right, and because of that maybe we’ve just forgotten about their PTB sticking their hands in everything because success makes us forget.
TLDR: why do Auburns PTB being a “problem” seem to be a uniquely Auburn issue, especially this publicly?
