Over the last 2.5 years, we've averaged 70ish plays/game. That's approximately what a team like Arkansas averages. If that's the level of urgency with which we are going to play the game, which is quite contrary to what Gus' style is predicated upon, then why go to the trouble of creating signals/signs for play calls that the other team can potentially pick up on? Let's just get in a huddle and whisper to each other instead.

Let me back up........I don't really think we need to get into a huddle. I've seen our TRUE HUNH work too effectively to believe we should huddle. For instance, today when we really needed to score.......WE DID. And we looked a bit more under control than we did during the rest of the game, which was more indicative of only an average pace. Look at the iron bowl last year (we lost because of poor D and lack of red zone execution), we put up points and yards......and with a D like this year it will work out in our favor way more often than not if we play how Gus is accustomed to playing. So, my question is quite obvious - why are we playing at such a slow pace? The "explosive plays" hogwash......is well, exactly that....hogwash. We didn't have enough explosive plays last year to justify the reduced plays/game (compared to Gus averages at Tulsa) let alone enough explosive plays to justify such a reduction in pace this season. Why will Gus not play his very own style of football?
