I know you all aren't necessarily big into women's hoops, but I always find significant rules legislation worth the time it takes to read.

And so we arrive here: PROPOSED CHANGES TO WOMEN'S HOOPS
  • They're going to a four-quarter format. Each quarter will last 10 minutes.
  • Teams will hit the bonus after the fifth foul (per quarter).
  • During the final 59.9 seconds of final quarter or OT, the offensive team receives a free advancement to the 28-foot mark (ie near the bench). That's a riff off the NBA, which allows some of that stuff.
  • Some exceptions to the 10-second backcourt rule.
  • Post defenders may use an open hand with a bent elbow or a forearm to the back of an offensive player who has her back to the basket.
  • Other stuff.
It's all done in the interest of making the game more exciting.
