this is a GREAT returning team in terms of the denfence and lineup. We return our 1,2,5,8. I do wish we returned Venter, but the rest are statistically replaceable. We had a lot of freshmen doing great things and it will undoubtedly be adjusted to reflect such, but we return a TON of production in Williams and Julien. Ward is a great defensive player and we need to commit to him and hope the consistent ad bats he improves. I wish we returned one more but we have a solid nucleus on offense. Pitching wise, we return Burns, Daniel (from everything out there), Greenhill, and several other serviceable pitchers. I think/hope Greenhill will be a starter next year, as I think he’s shown great endurance throughout the year of a pitcher who is built for a starting role. Daniel has proven to thrive in a long relief role and I think he’s best suited in a Cole Lipscomb type role, but I think he’ll be better. We need one of the freshmen to step up into a starting role and a few to be able to provide relief.
Tonight’s loss was tough, BUT I don’t think think this program is done under Butch, and I see regions/Supers being a regular thing under Butch. A lot can be said for having Sophomore veterans on the roster who’ve fallen short before when it comes to postseason. I think this freshmen class with help the incoming group of studs understand and step up early. This freshmen class is hungry, and it will rub off on to next season’s roster.
